How to Get to Crandor in OSRS

Crandor is one of Old School RuneScape’s (OSRS) most iconic locations, famous for its role in the legendary “Dragon Slayer I” quest-the gateway to equipping rune platebodies and facing the fearsome dragon Elvarg. Unlike many OSRS locations, there is no direct teleport to Crandor, but with the right steps and preparation, reaching this volcanic island is straightforward. This guide covers everything you need to know, whether you’re accessing Crandor for the first time during the quest or revisiting it post-completion. Please prepare sufficient OSRS gold before departing.

Prerequisites to Access Crandor

Before you can set foot on Crandor, there is one non-negotiable requirement: you must start or complete the “Dragon Slayer I” quest. This free-to-play quest is essential because it unlocks the only access routes to the island.

To start “Dragon Slayer I,” you need 32 quest points and must speak to the Guildmaster in the Champions’ Guild, located south of Varrock. While the quest itself requires defeating Elvarg (level 83), you don’t need to finish it to access Crandor-you just need to progress far enough to unlock the entry paths.

Additionally, it’s recommended to have at least 45 combat level for safety, as the routes to Crandor are filled with aggressive monsters like skeletons and lesser demons. You’ll also need basic supplies: food (lobsters or better), combat gear, and an anti-dragon shield (obtained during the quest) if you plan to face Elvarg.

Accessing Crandor During Dragon Slayer I

During the quest, you’ll have two main ways to reach Crandor: the initial ship journey and the faster dungeon route. Both are essential to progress, and the dungeon route will become your go-to for future visits.

1. The Initial Ship Journey (First Visit)

Your first trip to Crandor is via a repaired ship, guided by the sailor Ned. To prepare for this journey, you’ll need to collect three map pieces (from Melzar’s Maze, Port Sarim Jail, and Lozar’s remains) and repair the “Lady Lumbridge” ship with 3 planks, 90 steel nails, and a hammer.

Once the ship is ready, speak to Ned in Port Sarim, and he’ll sail you to Crandor for free. Unfortunately, the ship crashes upon arrival, so this route only works once-you’ll need to use the dungeon route for return trips.

2. The Karamja Volcano Dungeon Route (On-Quest and Post-Quest)

The most reliable way to reach Crandor, both during and after the quest, is through the Karamja Volcano Dungeon. This route is faster and reusable, making it ideal for revisiting the island. Here’s how to navigate it step by step:

First, travel to Musa Point on Karamja. For free-to-play players, the easiest way is to sail from Port Sarim: head to the middle pier, pay 30 GP to a sailor, and they’ll take you to Musa Point. Members can use an Amulet of Glory to teleport directly to the Karamja Banana Plantation, then run west to Musa Point.

From Musa Point, run west toward the large volcanic crater-the Karamja Volcano. Climb down the rope into the dungeon; be ready to face level 22 skeletons roaming the entrance. You can fight them or simply run past them to save time.

Inside the dungeon, head north. You’ll pass more skeletons and eventually reach a hidden wall near the northern end-this is the secret passage you unlock during “Dragon Slayer I.” Interact with the wall to open it, then climb the rope at the end of the passage to emerge on Crandor’s surface.

Fastest Travel Methods to Karamja Volcano (Post-Quest)

Once you’ve completed “Dragon Slayer I,” you can use faster methods to reach the Karamja Volcano, cutting down your travel time significantly. These methods are especially useful if you’re revisiting Crandor for mining, monster hunting, or exploration.

Members-Only Fast Routes

Members have access to two of the fastest ways to reach the Karamja Volcano. The first is the Fairy Ring code BLP: this requires partial completion of “Fairy Tale II” and a charged Dramen or Lunar Staff. Activate the fairy ring, enter code BLP, and you’ll teleport directly to the Karamja Volcano area-just a short run from the dungeon entrance.

The second members-only shortcut is the TzHaar Fight Pit minigame teleport. Once you’ve visited the TzHaar Fight Pit once, you can teleport there directly. From the fight pit, run north to the Karamja Volcano dungeon entrance.

Free-to-Play Alternatives

Free-to-play players can still speed up their journey with a few options. The Amulet of Glory (available to both free and members) can teleport you to Karamja, though it requires recharging. Alternatively, you can sail from Rimmington or Ardougne to Karamja-each trip costs 30 GP, and the docks are located west of Rimmington and southeast of Ardougne.

For the absolute fastest (but rare) method, players with an Achievement Cape can teleport directly to any location, including the Karamja Volcano-though this is only accessible to players who have completed all OSRS quests.

What to Expect on Crandor

Crandor is a small volcanic island with a tragic history: once a thriving community, it was destroyed by Elvarg’s dragon fire 30 years before the events of OSRS. Today, it’s covered in ruins, with no banks or altars-so come prepared with all the supplies you need.

The island is home to several monsters, including level 25 skeletons, level 28 hobgoblins, level 32 king scorpions, and level 82 lesser demons. These monsters drop valuable loot and offer good combat training, especially for mid-level players.

Crandor also has valuable mining spots: 7 mithril rocks on the southwest beach, 3 gold rocks on the northeast beach, and adamantite and coal rocks in the foothills. Just be cautious-monsters guard these spots, so you’ll need to fight them off while mining.

Final Tips for Visiting Crandor

Always bring enough food and potions-there’s no way to restock on Crandor, so plan accordingly. If you’re low combat level, stick to the dungeon route and avoid unnecessary fights with monsters.

Remember that the secret wall in the Karamja Volcano Dungeon must be accessed from the Crandor side at least once during “Dragon Slayer I” to remain usable post-quest. If you forget to open it, you’ll need to revisit the quest steps to unlock it. Buying cheap RuneScape gold can make your journey much smoother.

Whether you’re completing “Dragon Slayer I” for the first time or revisiting Crandor for resources and combat, following these steps will make your journey smooth and efficient. With a little preparation, you’ll be exploring this iconic OSRS island in no time.

Fast and Efficient Ways to Get the Dragon Hunter Lance in OSRS

The Dragon Hunter Lance is one of the most coveted weapons in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), providing a significant advantage against dragon-type creatures. Its powerful stats make it essential for players aiming to maximize damage output in boss fights, Slayer tasks, and other challenging scenarios. For anyone serious about combat in OSRS, understanding how to obtain the Dragon Hunter Lance efficiently-and how to manage resources like OSRS gold and buy OSRS items-is crucial.

Why the Dragon Hunter Lance Is a Must-Have

The Dragon Hunter Lance is a two-handed spear with a unique ability: it deals increased damage to dragon creatures. Its stats include a +12 strength bonus and a +12 attack bonus against dragons, making it particularly effective against bosses such as Vorkath and other high-level dragon monsters. Players seeking to dominate endgame combat scenarios will find the lance indispensable for both solo and group fights.

To wield the Dragon Hunter Lance, players must have level 70 Attack and must complete the Dragon Slayer II quest. This quest unlocks not only the weapon but also key gameplay features that enhance your overall OSRS experience.

Step 1: Completing Dragon Slayer II

The first step in acquiring the Dragon Hunter Lance is completing the Dragon Slayer II quest. This multi-part quest involves:

Meeting Prerequisites:

·Completion of Dragon Slayer I

·Level 70 Crafting and level 70 Prayer

·Access to the Myths’ Guild

Gathering Required Items:

·Book of Chaos

·Dragon Metal Leaf

·Amulet of Glory

·Additional coins for quest costs

Playing Through the Story:

Dragon Slayer II provides a rich narrative that introduces new characters, areas, and challenges. Players will face puzzles, combat scenarios, and decision-making opportunities that test their skills and preparation.

Step 2: Defeating Vorkath

After completing the quest, you gain access to Vorkath, one of the most formidable dragons in OSRS. Success against Vorkath requires preparation, strategy, and proper use of the Dragon Hunter Lance.

Prepare Your Inventory:

Stock up on Saradomin brews, Super Restores, and other potions to enhance survivability. High-tier gear is essential to reduce damage from Vorkath’s powerful attacks.

Learn Vorkath’s Patterns:

Understanding Vorkath’s mechanics is crucial. He uses a mix of ranged, magic, and special attacks that can be countered with timing, positioning, and prayer switching.

Utilize the Dragon Hunter Lance:

The lance’s unique bonus against dragons makes it extremely effective. Using its increased damage and accuracy, players can maximize DPS, reducing the time and resources spent during the fight.

Step 3: Farming the Dragon Hunter Lance

Obtaining the Dragon Hunter Lance from Vorkath is not guaranteed. Players will often need multiple kills before the weapon drops.

Efficient Kills:

Optimize your strategy by using the best gear and attack rotations. Reducing kill times increases the chances of a drop in fewer attempts.

Group Runs:

Teaming up with other players can improve efficiency. Coordinated group runs allow faster kills, which can lead to quicker acquisition of the Dragon Hunter Lance.

Step 4: Managing OSRS Gold and Resources

Once you’ve obtained the Dragon Hunter Lance, managing resources such as OSRS gold becomes essential for long-term success.

Buying OSRS Gold:

Some players choose to buy OSRS items or gold from trusted sources to invest in gear upgrades or supplies. Using cheap OSRS gold wisely allows players to craft the optimal inventory and maintain a strong combat performance without unnecessary grinding.

Enhancing Skills:

Regular training in Attack, Strength, and Defence ensures that you maximize the lance’s potential. Slayer tasks and other combat-focused activities can also supplement your OSRS gold reserves while improving your overall capabilities.

Tips for Maximizing Dragon Hunter Lance Effectiveness

1. Use it in Boss Fights: The lance is particularly strong against dragon bosses like Vorkath, the King Black Dragon, and other dragon-type creatures.

2. Combine with Prayer and Potions: Boosts from prayers and combat potions complement the lance’s damage bonus.

3. Upgrade Complementary Gear: Equipping armor and accessories that enhance attack speed and accuracy ensures that you get the most out of your DPS.

4. Invest in Supplies: Efficient use of OSRS gold to stock high-quality food, potions, and gear repairs keeps you in top fighting condition.

Long-Term Benefits

Owning a Dragon Hunter Lance significantly improves combat efficiency against dragons, reduces grind time in boss fights, and provides a clear advantage in PvM content. Additionally, careful management of OSRS gold and strategic purchases of items can accelerate progress for both new and veteran players.

Final Thoughts

The Dragon Hunter Lance is more than just a weapon-it’s a game-changer in OSRS. Completing Dragon Slayer II, mastering Vorkath’s mechanics, and efficiently farming the lance are key steps for any serious player. By leveraging strategies like smart resource management, buying OSRS items when necessary, and investing in cheap OSRS gold, you can enhance your combat effectiveness and enjoy the full benefits of one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

For players committed to mastering PvM in OSRS, obtaining the Dragon Hunter Lance is an essential goal that opens doors to higher-level content, faster farming, and more rewarding gameplay overall.

Mmoexp OSRS: 5 things you should NOT be doing to get an Infernal Cape

Some common tips meant to make clearing the Inferno and defeating TzKal-Zuk easier can make things more complicated.

Since its release in June 2017, the Inferno has been considered Old School RuneScape’s (OSRS) most difficult solo PvM encounter, and the journey to an Infernal Cape is widely recognized by gamers who have never even touched the game.

Even amid last year’s Varlamore expansion and the release of the Fortis Colosseum, the Inferno remains arguably the top challenge; there’s no way to definitively argue that one is “easier” than the other unless you start going piece by piece, factor by factor, to determine which is more difficult.

What we will argue against, however, are five common techniques and methods that are encouraged but are not completely necessary en route to getting your first Infernal Cape.

This isn’t necessarily what I’d consider an Inferno guide, and admittedly some of the strategies and terminology may seem a bit confusing for a starter. I would recommend consulting additional guides if you are confused, because there are plenty out there which lay out the basic groundwork.

These are simply five things that may seem intimidating or unachievable at first, but they are things you don’t need to do to achieve your first Infernal Cape.

By nature, I am extremely conservative (rather than aggressive) when it comes to any sort of a PvM challenge. It’s all about the strategy and the mechanics, rather than the brute force, and given how the Inferno is set up, that is exactly what these notes aim to achieve.

You, too, can do it, JalYt. So let’s have a look at five things NOT to do to get that Infernal Cape.

          1. Don’t Freeze the Nibblers

          Why not?

Freezing Nibblers with Ice Barrage is inefficient unless you’re highly experienced. You’re unlikely to kill them all in one cast, and you’ll still have to move to finish them off, putting you in danger.

          What to do instead:

Use Blood Barrage with the Eldritch Nightmare Staff for healing.

From Wave 28 onward, switch to Justiciar Armor and Dinh’s Bulwark special attack at the wave’s center to eliminate Nibblers more safely.

Avoid starting with Ice Barrage unless you’re confident with tick-perfect execution.

          2. Don’t Use Damage-Boosting Prayers During Regular Waves

          Why not?

Prayers like Rigour or Augury drain prayer points unnecessarily, and you’ll need those for critical waves and Zuk. Flicking offensive prayers adds complexity without a huge pay-off for new or mid-tier players.

          What to do instead:

Save prayer for overheads and survival.

Use Rigour/Augury only sparingly, ever before Zuk.

Conserve all resources for Triple Jads (Wave 68) and Zuk (Wave 69), where every drop of prayer and brew counts.

          3. Don’t Rely on Fancy Gear Swaps or Inventory-Crushing Loadouts

          Why not?

Trying to bring everything (Divine Pouch, Kodai Wand, multiple switches) overloads your inventory and adds mental stress.

          What to do instead:

Stick with essential gear that supports survivability and simplicity.

The Eldritch Staff replaces the need for a Kodai + Blood Barrage + Divine Pouch setup.

Bring gear that serves multiple functions and maximizes inventory space for Brews, Restores, and utility items.

          4. Don’t Start Each Wave in a Safe Spot After Wave 28

          Why not?

Once waves get dangerous (especially 30+), immediately rushing to a safe pillar can get you trapped or sniped by Meleers or Rangers.

          What to do instead:

Begin waves in the center with Justiciar + Bulwark and clear Nibblers first.

Then reposition to your desired pillar or safespot safely once threats are controlled.

This reduces the chance of being cornered or sniped on spawn.

          5. Don’t Focus on Speed or DPS in Your First Clears

          Why not?

Trying to shave seconds off each wave can lead to greedy plays, misclicks, and deathsl, especially when under pressure.

          What to do instead:

Treat Waves 1-68 as a warmup/setup for Zuk.

          Take your time-survival > speed.

Practice with simulators or external tools if needed before attempting the real run.

TzKal-Zuk is the real fight. The rest is prep work.

If you want help crafting a gear/inventory loadout based on your OSRS gold or supplies, MMOexp is known for being fast and secure (especially with codes like “6exp6” for extra discount). That cheap OSRS gold can wisely cut down on prep time and let you focus purely on strategy and mechanics.
